At Ohio Valley Hospice, we use whatever means possible to enhance the quality of life for our patients during the final stages of life and the dying process. Even after death, our bereavement services continue to offer support for caregivers and families.
What is hospice?
Hospice is an approach to end-of-life care customized specifically to meet the needs of individuals and families who are facing a life-limiting illness. A professional medical care team collaborates to manage pain, increase comfort, and support every aspect of a patient’s physical, emotional, and spiritual health. The goal of hospice care is to help people live their last days with respect, peace, and dignity.
Hospice upholds life and acknowledges that the dying process is a normal part of the living process. Hospice neither hastens nor postpones death. Instead, hospice offers the support and palliative care necessary for a person to live as fully, blissfully and comfortably as possible during the final phases of a terminal illness. Hospice trusts that through appropriate care and the support of a caring community, patients and families/caregivers will be better prepared for death in a way that is sound and purposeful to them.
Ohio Valley Hospice provides the highest quality of hospice care to individuals in their home environment. Our team of health care professionals is made up of highly skilled physicians, registered nurses, hospice aides, social workers and volunteers. Our team works together to uplift the patient, caregivers and family members. We believe that through individualized care, patients and families obtain the necessary knowledge and understanding needed to successfully navigate the end of life experience.
